      Hi wiki19065,

An interesting question. I think the way we have it set up in the UK for abortion is the right way for it to be. I think abortion should be allowed with the rules over having the consent of two doctors for an abortion to be carried out and that in all but exceptional circumstances that it must be carried out before a certain number of weeks into the pregnancy.

I think if you make abortion illegal you create a situation where it is more dangerous as people take risks with their health to have an abortion in places that may not be as safe or as good for you as a hospital.

      Hi wiki,

I do believe that it is a woman’s right to choose what happens to her body, and that includes the right to have an abortion.

James P is very right: when abortion was illegal, there was a huge amount of women who still had abortions, but they had to have them illegally in back-street clinics with un-qualified people who weren’t doctors. This was very dangerous and many died due to botched abortions.

However, I think that while abortion should be legal, I would prefer if we didn’t have to do them. So it’s really important for people in schools to have comprehensive sex education so that they know how to use contraceptives, and aren’t embarrassed to ask for them. If people don’t have accidentally and unwanted pregnancies, there would be less need for abortions to be carried out.

      Hey wiki19065,

I think this is a really hard question to answer. I do not believe in abortion as i do consider it to be ending a life, just like you or me, who hasn’t done anything wrong. Saying that i don’t think it is always the right thing for someone to have a baby if they don’t want it. But the question is : is it better to end a life than risk that life not being good, and why is it our right to make that decision?

Its a really tough question and i don’t think everyone will ever agree on it!
