Dark energy is a source of energy which physicsts believe exists to fit in how they think the universe works, but has not yet been seen or created. Lots of physics is like this, in a branch called “Theoretical Physics”, and at places like the Large Hadron Collider, they are trying to find the particles that mean that they can prove their theories. I erckon it must really exciting but also really frustrating science to be involved in!

Is that to do with particle physics and dark matter??
Isn’t that what is researched at CERN in Switzerland???

Yep, the Large Hadron Collider is at CERN and dark energy is along with particle physics and dark matter in Theoretical Physics.
