      Hi jefferyharris

Yes I did! I asked for a microscope when I was 7 or 8 as a birthday present, and enjoyed looking at my teeth (when they fell out) and blood (when my sister cut herself – honest it wasn’t me!). I also loved space as a kid (still do) and then later on I got really interested in both the weather and then geology!

When I was younger, I don’t think I really knew much about science, or was that interested in it – I was more interested in playing sports. However, I think when I started doing my GCSEs I had some good science teachers, and I enjoyed the subject, and I think that’s when I really started getting in to it.

      Hey Jefferyharris,

The extent of my enjoyment of science when i was a child was my favourite movie being Twister. It was a movie about tornado chasers and i really liked the idea of doing that when i grew up. When i was at secondary school (11-18) I did naturally sway towards maths and science rather than the arts. Teachers were a big part of that though; i had a really good maths teacher so that really helped.

I didnt really realise as a young child what science was. I just knew I liked learning about nature and the natural world and how and why things worked. When I started to do my GCSE’s I was given a chemistry project where I had to work out the identity of an unknown powder sample. We had to react it with different chemicals and carry out tests, analyse it and work out what it was. I really enjoyed piecing together all the parts of the puzzle to get to the answer! Because of that one lesson I decided to take science subjects at A-level and then things carried on from there really!
