      Hi Hannahisawesome,

Definately! One of the best things about the science I work on is that it involves so many different types of science, from climate modellers and meterologists, to geologists, to chemists and biologists. I get to work with people who dig up fossils and people who understand why clouds form and what this means for our weather. So I’m really lucky.

Outside of all that, I’m really keen on space, always have been, I had a childhood dream of being an astronaut and I have always found the Space race, the Apollo missions to the moon and things like the Hubble telescope fascinating!

      Hi hannahisawesome,
Absolutely. When I started at university, it was to do physics, and I later switched to study earth sciences instead. So I’m still really interested in what’s going on in physics – you must have heard of the Large Hadron Collider at CERN in Switzerland, and the search for the Higgs Boson? This could totally change our understanding of the basic particles that go to make up everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) in the universe.

I’m also really fascinated by neuroscience. I don’t know much about it, because I didn’t do any biology after my GCSEs, but I think the things we’re finding out about how our brains work are amazing. And lets face it – it’s our brains that really make us who we are as human beings.

Absolutely!! I did a joint undergraduate degree, half in chemistry which is the part i use the most in my job and half in biology. I studied things like ecology, animal behaviour and habitat management for the biology part and these are the parts that I still have an interest in now. I really like learning about the natural world and nature. I have hobbies like bird watching and moth trapping too.(Just to let you know moth trapping is when you turn on a bright light and see what comes to it. It doesn’t actually trap the moths and they are free to go after and usually do go as soon as you turn off the light! :-))
