      Hey megansaurus,

Icebergs form when large parts of glaciers and ice from the land break off and float into the sea. Icebergs are not the same as sea ice as they are mad from fresh water (from the land) and not saline sea water (like sea ice is).

Icerbergs are the most important contribution to sea level rise. The more ice bergs that break off into the ocean the more ‘extra’ water we are adding into the ocean system so the level goes up and up and up.
