Ha, I kinda know what you mean. The earth is certainly a very complicated place, so much of it links together in surprising ways.
The thing that always amazes me most is that we only really discovered and understood plate tectonics in the mid 1960s. This was the same time we were sending people up into space. Plate tectonics is the most fundamental of processes on the planet – it is what drives everything! Yet we developed the technology to send people into space before we were able to understand how our planet works! That shows how complicated the planet is, and therefore how much there is left to understand still.
Our planet is truely incredible and it is a privilege to work on trying to understand how it works that bit better. What really interests me is all the little cycles that exist within our planet, these are to do with the movement of elements such as carbon, nitrogen and other vital substances so that life can exist and how these affect the climate around them.
I think the how the world works and how we are actually exsist on the planet is amazing! It makes you think about if there is life on any other planets outside of our solar system!
