      Hi adnac110,

Epeleptic seizures come in two types, the first is more minor and basically see’s the suffer just freeze and not respond to anyone or anything, these last less than a minute and are never noticed by the suffer. The other type is the epleptic fit, where the suffer will fall to the floor and shake about due to muscles spasms. I learnt about this for my First Aid qualification. I seem to remember being told that they are caused by issues with the electrical energy in your briain, but I don’t know for sure. I do know that if you see someone having a fit, the best thing to do is to make sure they can’t bang their head on anything first and to just give them space till they stop fitting. Then they will either come round or maybe be unconcious, so put them in the recovery position and if you need to get help from an adult or by dialling 999 and say what happened and they’ll help you out!

      Hi adnanc,
Yeah, I’m not sure either, but it’s something to do with the electric signals in our brain. Our brain works by passing electric signals between our neurons. I think with epileptics these signals go wrong, or there is too much electrical activity, and it causes the sufferer to have a fit. I once saw someone have a fit, and it was pretty scary to be honest….
