      Hi hannahisawesome,
I think my favourite thing by far is getting to go into the field, to go to active volcanoes to deploy seismometers and GPS stations and other instruments. Volcanoes are often in exciting and amazing locations, and they’re always spectacular. Hopefully I’ll be going to some volcanoes in Ethiopia within a year or so – that’s my next exciting thing!

But also, whenever I make a new discovery it’s a pretty awesome feeling – knowing that you’ve discovered something that no other person in the world has thought of before (even if it’s only a really small thing). I think that’s the reason we all do science, to find something out that no one has ever done before.

      Hey hannahisawsome,

I think my favourite thing about work is probably all the different places i get to visit. Last year i went to Vienna, America, and got paid to live in Edinburgh for 3 months and that was pretty cool.

      Hi hannahisawesome

The best bit about my job is the knowledge that no-one else is doing the same work as me, it is totally unique and one of a kind, but at the same time I am part of so many teams, with scientists from all round the world and we are all working to understand the same big question, of understanding our climate and how it changes.

I love meeting new people and listening to other people talk about science and like learning new things from the people around me. Its great being part of a team too when you get to debate different ideas and then come up with an action plan of what theories you are going to test in the experiments.

Secondly it is really good to be able to travel and visit different countries too and meet scientists from around the world!
