Great question. Unfortunately i have not gotten the chance to actually go up to the Arctic yet (but fingers crossed I will soon!I think the last major thing we discovered about the Arctic was that the sea ice was melting and getting thinner compared with the past. We were able to do this because satellites are taking daily observations of where the ice is and how thick it is. We can then compare these to the past. I think scientists had a hunch this was happening but actually being able to prove it was a major break through.
