      I worked on the Island of Montserrat, in the Caribbean, for 3 months as an earthquake expert monitoring the volcano on the island.

      Montserrat is nicknamed the Emerald Isle of the Caribbean both for its resemblance to coastal Ireland and for the Irish ancestry of some of its inhabitants … so when i was there I spent a lot of time trying to convince the Islanders that i was Scottish and not Irish … they were always calling me Galway and not Galloway … I still get emails from a lot of people still living there and they still ask me “what’s the weather like in Ireland?” 🙂
