• Question: Why have the leaves started turning orange?! I'm not even joking. When I was walking home the other day, I saw some drying up, orange leaves on a tree. Also, we have an oak tree in my back garden, and it's dropping orange leaves and acorns everywhere. I hate it. However, it may be something to do with Britain's crazy weather recently. Help me with my plant dilemma? Also, may I just point out that it is June... not September. I AM WORRIED =[.

      Hi sanya,

It could be that the tree is dying for other reasons not weather related, but if you have seen it on more than one tree, I would have to say that it is a weather related event.

It’s not hard to see that the UK weather has been crazy of late, a friend of mine who lives in Alaska reports it is nearly 30°C over there at present, well above average for this time of year, while we suffer weather that is almost like it is September.

The last few years have seen very warm springs and then a change to cooler weather events and weather of the UK has been very different to what you might expect. However it is very hard to say whether this is due to climate change or if we are just seeing natural variations in the UK weather conditions.
